Yes, I was one of those less-than-sane individuals who acquired her iPhone the day it was released. Now that a week has passed, I felt the desire to document my experience. Acquisition : Before I talk about the phone, here was my purchase experience. I woke up at 5:15am, showered, coiffed, dressed and headed right over to Peet's Coffee, which resides directly across the street from the AT&T Wireless store in Elk Grove, CA. It was about 6:50am at that point, and the line appeared to have 100 people in already. After buying my coffee, I was still weighing my choice to wait in line. Should I? Shouldn't I? My title is a spinoff of a quote by Oscar Wilde. He once said, "seriousness is the last refuge of the shallow." I'm inclined to agree. Though I've been known to be too serious at times. So, I cobbled together my own variation. I've put this down here in case I forget, which is quite likely.

Travels in California

Gilroy Gardens 08 2007 068 , originally uploaded by weaktwos . Yes, you know Gilroy as the home of the Garlic Festival. And sadly, I've not yet been. I'll be sure to check into it next year, however. I made my first official visit to Gilroy last week to the lovely Gilroy Gardens . My friends and I arrived on a Sunday at around 9:45am. Perfect timing. The crowds didn't show up until after 11. This gives you a chance to visit your favorite part of the park with little crowds. Keep in mind that the food isn't served until after 11am, either, so if you're hungry, you'll have a bit of a wait. I highly recommend making a visit. There are medium to light amusement park type rides (trains, cars, rafts, coasters), plus a fun waterfall garden perfect for cooling off. It can be educational and fun for the whole family or friendship circle. Some friends of mine also stayed at the Ramada Limited Inn down there the night before, and it appears to be a reasonably ...
